ME, ME, ME

One of the members of www.ViolinLab.com posted a request to "hear my story". It is not at all illustrious. So for the very few who would like to know of my humble violin beginnings, this is for you.

  1. Hi Beth,
Thank you for sharing your personal story with us. Boy, you were brave to go to Europe and survive from one music session to the other! Wow, that says a lot about your confidence. I can do it. I know I can! I admire you, Beth.
    Please share more.

  2. Loved hearing your story! Thank you for sharing. I live in Lafayette, LA, and have quite a few friends in Austin, many of whom play in the Austin Symphonic Band. I have a computer conference in August in October. It would be wonderful to meet you, perhaps. I hope to "violin shop" while there. Thanks again. ~Sara

  5. Thank you for sharing Beth. I know a few folks who did just what you did...one way ticket to Europe and see how it goes from there. One of them came home after 2+ years speaking 6 different languages fluently..but...he was something of a genius anyway and is now a professor somewhere in California.
What an experience that must have been !

  6. Hello Beth I am Jon

I ve been playing the violin for 10 years and i am not only passionate about playing the instrument per se but i am passionate about listening to different violinists play.

I was wondering whether you had any favourite violinists of the 20th or 21st century and i was wondering whether you could comment on their styles of phrasing and what makes them different if we were to compare ?

Also do you have a favourite violin concerto eg Sibelius , Wieniawski Brahms etc?

It would be lovely you could comment on this blog

BTW its interesting how you share your story on ur early days with the violin.
