Best Practices: Efficient Violin Practice: "Isolation"
Imagine you're trying to unearth ancient artifacts of a lost civilization thirty feet underground and you're digging in the wrong place. One of the first tenants of practice is isolation: separating the bits that are problematic and putting most of your energy there.

Beth,
ReplyDeleteI think cutting and pasting the difficult parts is a good idea!

Great advice! Its amazing how my brain automatically likes to play things I play well when I pick up my instrument (or even during serious practice), and resists practicing the hard bits. Cutting and pasting I've never tried before, so I will give it a shot! Thanks.
